What it does

Geese mow lawns into eggs and weed control. Grain supplements pasture at half a pound daily per bird.

The tool above multiplies flock by rate by days. Eight geese need 4 lb a day, or 120 lb over a month in 2.4 bags. The metric match is 1.8 kg a day toward 54.4 kg.

Pasture carries the diet. Good grass cuts grain while winter and dry lots demand full rations.

Rotations keep grass ahead. Moved paddocks regrow while geese graze forward.

Grit and water sit beside. Geese wash every bite with drinker water.

How to use

  1. Pick imperial (lb) or metric (kg).
  2. Enter goose count.
  3. Enter days: 30 suits monthly buys.
  4. Read daily first, then monthly.
  5. Read bags and rotate pasture.

Formula

Daily lb = geese x 0.5. Monthly = daily x days. Bags = monthly / 50.

Half a pound of grain daily assumes decent pasture. Metric converts at 0.453592 kg per lb.

Worked example

Example: 8 geese, 30 days

Imperial defaults: 8 geese for 30 days. These are also the default values, so the page opens on this answer.

  1. Flock: 8 geese.
  2. Rate: 0.5 lb grain each per day plus pasture.
  3. Daily: 8 x 0.5 = 4 lb.
  4. Month: 4 x 30 = 120 lb over 30 days.
  5. Bags: 120 / 50 = 2.4 bags.
  6. Tool shows 4 lb per day, 120 lb, 2.4 bags (50 lb).

Limits

  • Estimate only. Pasture quality rules grain needs.
  • Breed sizes shift intake.
  • Winter needs full rations.
  • Illness needs vet care.

Common mistakes

  • Grain only with no pasture.
  • No grit beside the feeder.
  • Stale feed molding in bins.
  • Counting goslings at adult rates.
  • Skipping water in freezes.

Try it yourself

Quick checks. Answers sit tucked under each question.

4 geese, 30 days?

4 x 0.5 = 2 lb per day. Over 30 days that is 60 lb. Bags are 60 / 50 = 1.2 bags.

12 geese, 14 days?

12 x 0.5 = 6 lb per day. Over 14 days that is 84 lb.

Questions

Feed for a month?

Multiply geese by rate by days. Here 8 x 0.5 x 30 = 120 lb.

How much per goose?

Near half a pound of grain daily with good pasture in this plan.

How many bags?

Divide monthly by 50. Here 120 / 50 = 2.4 bags.

Pasture enough alone?

Geese graze grass first. Grain supplements, never replaces, pasture.

Winter feeding?

Yes. Winter with no grass needs full rations.

Does this treat illness?

No. Angel wing and illness need review.
