What it does

Turkeys grow fast and eat to match. A small adult flock clears ten pounds a day, so weekly buys and bin space need real numbers.

The tool above multiplies birds by rate by days. Ten adults at a pound each need 10 lb a day, or 70 lb a week and 300 lb a month. The metric match is 4500 g a day toward 31.5 kg.

Age sets the rate. Poults near a quarter pound of starter, adults near a full pound, with heritage birds below broad breasted lines.

Protein tracks growth. High starter builds poults, grower finishes frames, and layer calcium supports hens, each with grit and water beside.

Bins close the plan. Sealed cans hold a month for ten adults, with range and scraps trimming summer bills.

How to use

  1. Pick imperial (lb) or metric (g, kg).
  2. Enter turkey count.
  3. Pick poults or adults.
  4. Enter days: 7 suits weekly buys.
  5. Read daily first, then trip total.
  6. Read monthly and size the bin.

Formula

Daily = birds x rate. Total = daily x days. Monthly = daily x 30.

Rates are 1 lb or 450 g per adult daily and 0.25 lb or 115 g per poult. Metric totals show kilos.

Worked example

Example: 10 adults, 7 days

Imperial defaults: 10 adults for 7 days. These are also the default values, so the page opens on this answer.

  1. Flock: 10 adults.
  2. Rate: 1 lb per adult per day.
  3. Daily: 10 x 1 = 10 lb.
  4. Trip: 10 x 7 = 70 lb over 7 days.
  5. Month: 10 x 30 = 300 lb.
  6. Tool shows 10 lb per day, 70 lb, 300 lb per month.

Limits

  • Estimate only. Breed and range shift intake.
  • Waste needs feeder design.
  • Poults need starter protein, not scraps.
  • Illness needs vet care.

Common mistakes

  • Layer feed for young poults.
  • No grit beside the feeder.
  • Wet feed molding in rain.
  • One bin for a growing flock.
  • Ignoring water in freezes.

Quick checks. Answers sit tucked under each question.

20 adults, 7 days?

20 x 1 = 20 lb per day. Over 7 days that is 140 lb. Monthly is 20 x 30 = 600 lb.

20 poults metric, 10 days?

20 x 115 = 2300 g per day. Over 10 days that is 23000 g, or 23 kg.

Questions

Feed for a week?

Multiply birds by rate by days. Here 10 x 1 x 7 = 70 lb.

How much per bird?

Near 1 lb (450 g) per adult daily, 0.25 lb (115 g) per poult. Heritage breeds eat less than broad breasted.

Starter or layer?

Poults need high protein starter near 28 %, growers near 20 %, layers calcium near lay.

Grit and water?

Add grit and cool water beside feed. Turkeys range far, so water stations matter.

Does range change it?

Yes. Pasture and bugs trim the feeder in summer months.

Does this treat illness?

No. Lameness and blackhead need vet care.
