What it does

Toddlers eat like small adults at quarter scale: about 40 calories per inch of height daily with dairy leading the menu and milk switching at age 2. One light day means nothing; the week tells the story.

The tool above takes height with age. It returns daily calories with dairy cups and the milk switch.

The default 32 inch two-year-old needs 1,280 cal with 2 to 2.5 cups dairy as low-fat. A 30 inch one-year-old needs 1,200 with whole milk.

Portions follow AAP serving tables with the age 2 sample menu behind them. Both agree on 40 per inch and the age 2 milk switch used here.

How to use

  1. Enter height in inches.
  2. Enter age 1, 2, or 3.
  3. Read calories first.
  4. Read dairy cups beside it.
  5. Follow the milk switch.
  6. Plate the week, not the meal.

Formula

Calories/day = height in x 40. Menu: dairy 2-2.5 cups, grains 2-3, fruit/veg 1 cup, protein 2 oz.
height

40
40 cal per inch daily factor.
age
1, 2, or 3 years.

Milk switches at age 2 by rule in the engine. Serving sizes run one quarter adult: dairy cups bridge milk, yogurt, and cheese equivalents. Activity, build, and illness adjust real needs.
