What it does

Local movers quote a crew rate plus a truck fee: movers times hours times dollars per hour, with travel and truck as a flat adder. This page adds those two lines so phone quotes compare on one total.

The default is 3 movers for 5 hours at $60 with a $150 fee. Labor is $900.00 and the all in total is $1,050.00, or $210.00 per clock hour. Zero the fee to model quotes that roll travel into the rate.

Hours are the swing input. Elevators, long carries, stairs, and flat pack disassembly stretch clock time past the drive, so ask how the company starts and stops the meter before booking.

This covers local hourly moves. Weight and mileage rules, binding estimates, packing crews, and valuation riders belong to long distance paperwork outside this page.

How to use

  1. Enter the mover count.
  2. Enter billable hours.
  3. Enter the hourly rate per mover.
  4. Enter the trip fee (0 if none).
  5. Read labor first, then the all in total.

Formula

Labor = movers x hours x rate. Total = labor + trip fee.
movers
Crew size on the truck.
hours
Billable hours door to door.
rate
Dollars per mover per hour.
fee
Flat truck and travel charge.

Rates are per mover per hour plus a flat truck fee in most local quotes; long distance moves price by weight and miles instead. Overtime, stairs, pianos, and packing change the quote and need line items.

Worked example

Example: 3 movers for 5 hours

3 movers, 5 hours, $60 per mover hour, $150 trip fee.

  1. Labor: 3 x 5 x 60 = $900.00.
  2. Total: 900 + 150 = $1,050.00.
  3. Check: 1,050 / 5 = $210.00 per hour all in.
  4. Tool shows $900.00 labor and $1,050.00 total.
  5. Fee covers truck and travel on top of hourly labor.

Limits

  • Local hourly quotes only. No weight or mileage pricing.
  • Ignores packing, materials, tips, storage.
  • One rate per pass. Tiered crews need splitting.
  • Overtime and access fees excluded.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing quotes with and without the fee mixed.
  • Undercounting hours for stairs and elevators.
  • Reading per mover rate as whole crew rate.
  • Forgetting tips and materials.
  • Booking long distance on hourly math.
