What it does

Lots stripe in modules: two stall depths plus a two way aisle, repeated across width, with stalls split along length. Floor each division since half stalls do not park. This page runs 90 degree double rows in feet or meters.

The default is 120 by 80 ft with 9 ft stalls 18 deep and a 24 aisle. Modules need 60 ft so one fits, rows hold 13 each, and the lot stripes 26 stalls in 2 rows. Metric converts to 36.6 by 24.4 m and matches the same 26.

Defaults fit full size cars at 90 degrees. Compact stalls, one way aisles, and angled parking all change the module math and need their own pass. Accessible stalls with access aisles replace standard ones near entries.

Raw counts ignore site truth. Trees, setbacks, lighting bases, snow storage, and drainage all eat stalls that math counts, so treat the tool as a max before code.

How to use

  1. Pick imperial or metric first.
  2. Enter lot length and width.
  3. Enter stall width, depth, aisle.
  4. Read stalls first, then area.
  5. Cut for access and code on site.

Formula

Per row = floor(length / stall width). Modules = floor(width / (2 x depth + aisle)). Stalls = per row x modules x 2.
length
Lot length along stalls.
width
Lot width across modules.
stall W
Stall width along the row.
depth + aisle
Stall depth plus two way aisle.

Ninety degree double loaded rows only; angled, one way, and perimeter layouts differ. Accessible stalls, access aisles, ramps, and local ratios for trees and setbacks come from code and cut the raw count.

Worked example

Example: 120 by 80 ft lot

120 by 80 ft lot, 9 ft stalls, 18 ft deep, 24 ft aisle.

  1. Module: 18 + 18 + 24 = 60 ft deep.
  2. Modules: 80 / 60 = 1.33, so 1 double row.
  3. Per row: 120 / 9 = 13.33, so 13 stalls.
  4. Total: 13 x 2 x 1 = 26 stalls.
  5. Metric 36.6 by 24.4 m gives the same 26.
  6. Tool shows 26 stalls and 2 rows.

Limits

  • 90 degree double rows only.
  • Raw max. Code and site cut counts.
  • No accessible stall design.
  • One stall size per pass.

Common mistakes

  • Counting half stalls at edges.
  • Mixing one way aisles with two way math.
  • Forgetting access aisles for ADA.
  • Reading raw max as permitted.
  • Squeezing stalls below code width.

Try it yourself

Quick checks. Answers sit tucked under each question.

90 by 60 ft lot, same stalls?

20 stalls (10 per row x 2), 5,400 ft2.

100 by 80 ft lot, same stalls?

22 stalls (11 per row x 2) on 100 by 80 ft.

Questions

How many stalls?

Floor rows times stalls per row. Here 26 in 2 rows.

Module depth?

Two stall depths plus aisle. Here 60 ft.

What is that in metric?

26 stalls in 2 rows on 893 m2.

Defaults?

9 ft wide, 18 ft deep, 24 ft aisle for 90 degrees.

ADA stalls?

No. Accessible stalls, ramps, and drainage sit outside count math.

Site limits?

Angles, trees, and setbacks cut real counts below math.
