What it does

Cupcakes count by guest with boxes behind. Standard mixes bake two dozen with frosting per cake.

The tool above scales the party. Twenty four guests at one each need 24 cupcakes from 1 box with 3 cups of frosting. Counts are universal, so no unit toggle is needed.

Boxes bake twenty four standard. Larger crowds stack boxes rather than overfilling tins.

Frosting runs an eighth cup each. Swirled tops eat more than flat spreads.

Cooling sets frosting. Warm cakes slide swirls into puddles.

How to use

  1. Enter guests.
  2. Enter cupcakes each: 1 suits parties.
  3. Read cakes first.
  4. Read boxes next.
  5. Read frosting and cool fully.

Formula

Cakes = round(guests x each). Boxes = ceil(cakes / 24). Frosting cups = cakes x 0.125.

Limits

  • Count math only. Recipes set timing.
  • Deep liners need longer bakes.
  • Frosting tastes vary widely.
  • Allergies need labeled trays.

Common mistakes

  • Overfilling liners over rims.
  • Frosting warm cakes.
  • One batch for sixty guests.
  • No extra liners bought.
  • Skipping cool racks.

Try it yourself

Quick checks. Answers sit tucked under each question.

48 guests, 1 each?

Cakes are round(48 x 1) = 48. Boxes are ceil(48 / 24) = 2 boxes. Frosting is 48 x 0.125 = 6 cups.

30 guests, 2 each?

Cakes are round(30 x 2) = 60. Boxes are ceil(60 / 24) = 3 boxes after rounding (2.5 rounds up). Frosting is 60 x 0.125 = 7.5 cups.

Questions

Cupcakes needed?

Multiply guests by cupcakes each. Here round(24 x 1) = 24 cupcakes.

Mix boxes?

Twenty four per standard box. Here ceil(24 / 24) = 1 box.

Frosting?

Eighth cup per cake. Here 24 x 0.125 = 3 cups frosting.

Cupcakes per person?

Plan 1 each for parties, 2 for sweet tables.

Frost warm cakes?

Yes. Cool fully or frosting slides off.
