Cat Treat Calculator
Daily cat treat count from meal calories and the 10 percent rule.
What it does
Treats train cats fast and fatten them faster. A few extra bites a day add up to pounds over a year on a small frame.
The tool above applies the ten percent rule. Two hundred fifty meal kcal allow 25 treat kcal, or 12 crunchy bites at 2 kcal each and 84 a week.
Meal calories set the cap. Indoor adults near 250 kcal suit the default, while large and active cats run higher with vet guidance.
Treat size decides counts. Crunchy bites near 2 kcal stretch the count, soft chews cut it, and lick tubes spend half the cap at once.
Scales close the loop. Monthly weights catch creep that daily counts miss, with food cuts before treat cuts.
How to use
- Enter daily meal kcal: 250 suits many adults.
- Enter kcal per treat: 2 suits crunchy bites.
- Read kcal cap first.
- Read daily count next.
- Read weekly total.
- Weigh monthly and adjust.
Formula
- meals
- Daily meal calories.
- each
- Calories in one treat.
Ten percent is the widely taught treat share from veterinary nutrition guidance. Floor rounds down so the cap never breaks.

Questions
Treats per day?
Take 10 % of meal calories, then divide by treat size. Here 250 x 0.10 / 2 = 12 treats.
Meal calories?
Near 200 to 300 kcal daily for many indoor adults. Active and large cats run higher.
Calories per treat?
Read the bag: crunchy near 2 kcal each, soft near 3 to 5, lick tubes near 10 to 15.
Training treats too?
Count training bits inside the cap. Handouts outside the count break the 10 % line.
Still gaining weight?
Yes. Weight trends beat any count when treats creep.
Any treat allowed?
No. Urinary and kidney diets need vet treat lists.
